“You’re crazy my child, you have to go to Berlin where the crazy people are, that’s where you belong!” – the 150-year-old song is still up-to-date, because the German capital still surprises with its unique ideas. One of them was the demonstration against wind power held on Thursday. This was not a contribution to the quite controversially discussed pros and cons against alternative energies, but a “wake-up call” to draw attention to the fact that wind turbines are “only there” to “turn the world in the other direction ”.
An inquiry to the Berlin police revealed that it was actually a properly registered rally on the central “Straße des 17. Juni”. The organizer was the “mountain party, the over-party” (lower case as in the original), an “eco-anarchist – real-dadaistic reservoir”.
The micro-party, which has existed since 2005, says it has no serious intention of ever being elected and is aiming for the “absolute minority”, but was nevertheless admitted to the last and penultimate federal elections. However, due to numerous “satirical” actions beyond the “jokeiness” at least in Berlin they have gained quite a reputation.
In recent years there have been more and more “fun parties”, such as the “Bier Party”, which moved into the Vienna City Council in 2020, or the “Die Party”, which has existed since 2004 and is even represented by a member of the European Parliament. “Fun demos” also repeatedly cause trouble for residents and drivers.
