If you use March 2021 as a comparison, Super increased in price by around 46 percent and diesel by around 61 percent.
“Fuels are and will remain a key driver of inflation in Austria,” according to the ÖAMTC. According to this, the prices for diesel rose by around 50 cents and for Super by around 40 cents per liter from the beginning to mid-March. This meant that car owners had to pay 25 or 20 euros more for a 50-liter tank filling in mid-March than at the beginning of the month. By the end of the month, the situation had calmed down again, at around 1.9 euros per liter of diesel and around 1.75 euros per liter of super.
The ÖAMTC once again refers to the price gap between the crude oil market and gas station prices. “Since the beginning of the year, the price of a barrel of OPEC oil in euros has risen by around 41 percent. In the same period, however, the prices at the pumps (excluding mineral oil tax and sales tax), for example diesel, rose much more sharply by around 53 percent,” according to the club.
