Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) is to travel to Ukraine “in the near future”. This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zeleskyj in a video message.
Selenskyj announced the visit on Tuesday night. It was addressed to the Ukrainian people. He also said that Ukraine would do everything possible to identify the soldiers involved in the killings of civilians in Ukraine and, together with the International Criminal Court, punish them. Specifically, in the video he addressed the incidents in the cities of Stoyanka, Irpin and Bucha in the Kyiv region.
Zelenskyy confirmed Nehammer’s visit and said: “We have agreed that he will visit Ukraine in the near future”. Nehammer himself has not commented on a possible trip to Ukraine for the time being.
In the run-up to the phone call with Karl Nehammer, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj announced on Twitter that he would be meeting with the Austrian Chancellor. Specifically he has informed the Chancellor about serious crimes committed by the occupiers in the Kyiv region and also mentioned the course of the defensive struggle against the aggression of the Russian Federation.
Selenskyj is grateful to Austria. “I thanked Austria for supporting our state,” he wrote in conclusion.
