Together with the AMS and the social partners, the Chamber of Commerce and the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions, the Ministry of Labor and the climate protection department founded the environmental foundation, which is endowed with 17.5 million euros. This was reported at a joint press conference by Labor Minister Marin Kocher. The foundation is intended to help offer the unemployed opportunities for new jobs with qualification measures and at the same time to combat the shortage of skilled workers in future-oriented industries.
The approximately 1000 participants are trained in areas such as resource management, renewable energies, agriculture and forestry with a focus on ecological management, but also e-mobility and regionalization. There are also training courses for wind turbine technicians, landscape gardeners and environmental IT specialists. That is why some companies have made a financial contribution to the foundation in order to obtain new workers in urgently needed shortage occupations.
Environmental Protection Minister Gewessler took the opportunity to promote the expansion of alternative energies and reduce dependence on Russian energy supplies in view of the increasing number of Russian war crimes. Every wind turbine, every replaced thermal bath is a contribution to more independence. This requires more specialists who contribute as energy consultants or heating technicians. With the environmental foundation, an important building block has been created to set new impulses on the labor market and in the transformation of the energy industry together with the companies.
