Just upload a new video to TikTok to keep friends and family back home up to date – that’s what two Chechen fighters who are fighting on the side of Russia in Ukraine thought. A video is currently circulating on social media showing two full-bearded fighters from the Khadyrov unit “strolling” through a Ukrainian city. They speak proudly into the camera of their smartphones, show their thumbs up. Suddenly the picture is shaken, a loud bang can be heard. The two men fall to the ground, in the final sequence you can see them lying on the asphalt.
The network reacted with amusement about the video: “Khadyrows with their mobile phones in war operations are a TikTok necessity,” writes one user. Another writes: “I’m shocked that Khadyrow wasn’t put into the picture”.
