In a video, Bogdan Balasynovych addresses Austria and Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) – on behalf of the Kiev municipality and on behalf of his boss, Mayor Vitali Klitschko: “Dear Austrian friends, dear Mr. Chancellor! Thank you so much for your help and support.” The head of the office of the Mayor of Kiev emphasizes: “We really appreciate this help from the Republic of Austria.”
Austria has delivered 9100 flak jackets for civilian aid workers, and they have now arrived in Kyiv. “Our hospitals, our civil protection workers, our social workers get these protective vests that we need so much,” Balasynovych notes.
Chancellor Nehammer comments: “It is hard to imagine what is happening in Ukraine right now. As a neutral country, it is our commitment to help as best we can where help is needed – especially when it comes to humanitarian aid. I would like to thank all the people in Austria who show solidarity with our neighbors.”
