The German Federal Intelligence Service warns that people smugglers could take advantage of the escape movement from Ukraine. People from other countries are increasingly migrating west via the Balkan and Eastern routes.
There is “credible intelligence evidence” that people smugglers are already deliberately obtaining fake Ukrainian student ID cards and advertising routes across the Ukrainian-Polish border area. They mainly target migrants from African and Arab countries who lived in Ukraine before the war. The price for transport to Germany is 5500 euros per person.
According to “Welt”, there are Telegram groups in which Ukrainian identity documents for migrants on the Balkan and Eastern routes have been offered. It is advertised that the entry conditions for those seeking protection from Ukraine have been simplified and that one can benefit from this. This simplifies transit through Romania, Hungary and the Balkans.
