Black-green Austria no longer even tries to pretend to be neutral. An Antonov transport aircraft that delivered weapon systems such as unmanned drones from Turkey was apparently denied an overflight over Hungary. President Viktor Orban is trying very hard not to get involved in the war. Unlike Austria, here the machine could pass unhindered.
Rzeszów Airport in Poland is a hub for NATO activities, especially those of the USA with regard to the Ukraine war. Even the aged US President Biden has just arrived to visit the US troops in Rzeszów. On various “Flightradar” pages one can observe how many transports arrive at the airport – especially the remaining AN-124 transport aircraft of the Ukrainian company Antonov.
New combat drones for the Ukraine war
Observers have now identified one such AN-124 flight, which was operated from Turkey to Rzeszów in early March. The accusation: It was a question of a weapon transport with weapons of war that are to be used directly in Ukraine. According to Russian sources, after all but one of the Ukrainian drones had been shot down (this claim cannot be verified), efforts were made to replenish them. New Turkish Bayraktar TB2 UAV drones are said to have been delivered directly from Istanbul. Reason enough for Orban’s Hungary to refuse the overflight. Apparently, Bulgaria and Romania are also not very happy with arms transports across their territory.

As can be seen from the flight route, the transport then went unhindered via Austria and Slovakia. Apparently there are no fears of direct war support there – even though Austria is a neutral state on paper. You can roughly calculate what is meant by a “neutral Ukraine based on the Austrian model”.
Cargo of AN-124 transports confirmed
The fact that the cargo was drones is not a rumor but is confirmed, as can be seen from the Avia-Pro.net website. where the transport is proudly boasted. Turkish military exports to Ukraine have increased by 5,491 percent. It is doubtful whether this will turn out to be particularly good for Turkish-Russian relations. Turkey has been a member of NATO since 1952.
However, other transport flights went directly via Bulgaria and Romania.
