The US wants to take in 100,000 refugees from Ukraine. In addition, a billion US dollars (910 million euros) will be made available for humanitarian aid, a senior US government official announced on Thursday. The money is intended to support the people of Ukraine and help those who are affected by the global effects of the Russian war.
Food, shelter, clean water, medical care and other forms of aid are to be financed. A further USD 320 million (EUR 291 million) is intended to strengthen democracy and human rights in Ukraine and neighboring countries.
