The anthems are played. The teams are already fully focused.
´: The game has started.
′: Wales’ first shot on goal. Alaba is put under pressure after a pass by Lindner, whereupon the real star joins his opponent. After a good pressing from the Welsh, James comes to an end. But Lindner keeps following up.
´: Baumgartner finishes after a great pass from Sabitzer in the penalty area. But the Hoffenheim legionnaire only hits the crossbar. Too bad, the first top chance for Austria.
´: Wales also get a big chance. On the left, James crosses to flank. Ramsey just misses the ball. Lucky for the ÖFB-Elf!
′: Alaba serves Arnautovic with a fine outside instep pass. But the Italy legionnaire can no longer get the ball. It would have been offside anyway.
′: The game has calmed down a bit after a lively initial phase.
′: The ball possession statistics clearly speak for Austria: 73 percent for Austria, 27 percent ball possession for Wales.
′: Alaba fouls his Real teammate after an aerial duel. But the Wales superstar is back. The game goes on.
′: It almost became dangerous for the Foda team. Williams refuels against Seewald and Lainer on the left and brings the pass into the penalty area. With combined forces, the Austrian back team can prevent worse here.
´: Williams again – but his shot from 16 meters is too central and too harmless. No problem for Lindner.
′: Williams crosses into the penalty area to Ramsey. However, his header poses no threat.
´: Baumgartner is booked for a foul on Wilson. Gareth Bale takes a free kick.
´: Gareth Bale scores and puts Wales ahead with a fantastic free kick – Lindner doesn’t have a chance.
´: Baumgartner gets a header in the penalty area. Wales keeper Hennessey clears for a corner. But from the ÖFB point of view, it brings nothing.
‘Arnautovic with a chance to equalise. He runs towards the Wales goal after a header won by Baumgartner. But Arnautovic puts the ball too far in front of him.
´: Austria lack the ideas in the offensive. Often the accuracy or the last pass is missing. Austria has more of the game. But the more compelling scoring chances have so far been in Wales.
‘Almost 2-0. Xaver Schlager plays back on Seiwald. He is the last man to lose the ball. A dangerous situation then arises. Luckily, Ramsey fails because of Lindner, who can clear the ball to the side netting.
‘Halftime in Cardiff! Austria has to come up with something because they are 0-1 behind. You still have 45 minutes.
