If you follow the book “Blödmaschinen. The Fabrication of Stupidity” by Markus Metz and Georg Seeßlen, which was first published in 2011 and has unfortunately largely been forgotten in the meantime, then we are living in the age of stupid machines. Stupid machines are media that are concerned with effects rather than meanings and whose communication becomes louder the less meaning it contains.
Stupid machines do not spread any content suitable for discourse, i.e. for criticism and contradiction, but only impulse gestures and stereotypes. They circulate ideologies and iconoclasm after iconoclasm. Stupid machines don’t use arguments, they only aim at people’s affect apparatus.
One cannot reasonably oppose their photographic images and verbal images. If you want to fight against them, you have to produce stronger counter-images and thus turn yourself into a stupid machine. The dumb machines empower and encourage each other when communicating with or against each other, and in this way dumbs down all communication of an epoch such as we are witnessing right now.
If you want to avoid the power of the stupid machines, it is advisable to read publications from the extreme left and right. The only merit of these horrible sheets is that they now and then let highlights of the real shimmer through, which would otherwise be covered by the deafening roar of the stupid machines.
One of these publications is the magazine “Junge Welt”, a left-wing dogmatic, partly GDR-nostalgic newspaper, in which melancholy-sad obituaries of GDR top politicians can be read. It is interesting that the well-known Viennese lawyer Alfred Noll, who regularly represents the pseudo-leftist petty-bourgeois Bobo newspaper “Der Falter” in legal disputes and legally held the sweaty hand of the alleged cocaine dealer Hessenthaler in the Ibiza investigative committee, as did the extreme left-wing Antifa activist Natascha Strobl, who is a member of the SPÖ and explains the political situation on the left-wing propaganda platform “Moment.at”, which is well-fed by the Chamber of Labor and well-fed by the Chamber of Labour, both have become conspicuous by the fact that they like lengthy eulogies about Marxist ideology producers in this leaflet observed by the German Office for the Protection of the Constitution or publish short-winded alarmist texts on the right-wing danger lurking everywhere.
In this very dubious document one could read that the UN General Assembly, at the suggestion of the Muslim state of Pakistan, declared March 15 to be “World Day of the Fight against Islamophobia”. This has not found any notable expression in the stupid machines of the media mainstream. Apparently, they wanted to hide the embarrassment of this parallel action, since there has been a UN memorial day for the “victims of religious persecution” since 2019. This general day of remembrance was probably not enough for the Muslim states, and apparently they don’t just want to commemorate passively, but want to go into a fight against evil with verve.
Muslim propagandists have been trying for a long time to portray aggressively proselytizing Islam as a victim of Western imperialism. The editors of the stupid machines, who act cautiously out of fear, hardly report that especially in Muslim countries the members of Christian religions are exposed to permanent persecution and oppression. Apparently, people fear running in front of the language machine guns of the left-wing Twitter regiments, which operate in close alliance with radical Muslim groups and brand every word critical of Islam as “anti-Islamic racism” and thus make it contemptible as a right-wing extremist admission.
Back to the UN Day of Combat and the term Islamophobia. Phobias are involuntary psychological reactions driven by irrational fears, but they can also be triggered by real threats. In any case, phobias are not malicious and deliberately set hate attacks. If someone actually suffers from a phobia, then the right way would be to look after this person medically and psychologically and not to fight it.
In an enlightened society, it is not the sick that are fought, but the diseases and not through martial decisions of bloated international political super-structures, but through healing methods tried and tested with scientific methods. And one also deals scientifically with toxic environments that may promote the occurrence of mental illness.
Looking at the actions of parts of the large global Muslim community, it is not necessarily far-fetched to conclude that their actions do not counteract the emergence of anti-Islamic phobias. In Nigeria, for example, the Islamist organization Boko Haram systematically attacks churches, many of which have already been looted and burned down in the past. In addition, the early medieval Sharia laws, which are still the basis of legal practice in many Muslim countries, do not exactly inspire confidence.
We know that Sharia systematically disadvantages women in particular. In Qatar, a particularly reactionary Islamic country where the German Green politician Robert Habeck was on a meek pilgrimage because it is the world’s second largest exporter of liquid gas, a Dutch woman who had reported her rape to the authorities was arrested in 2016 for the exercise sentenced to one year in prison for having sex outside of marriage. Rape victims are repeatedly held responsible for sexual assaults by men in Sharia countries. The fact that the perpetrator was sentenced to 140 lashes with a cane is little exculpatory and is more proof that Islam is stuck in the unenlightened culture of the early Middle Ages. It’s a truism, but you have to keep acknowledging it. The religious communities that are by far the most persecuted, especially in Muslim countries, are the Christian ones. A journalist addressed this fact some time ago in a flagship of German stupid machine culture. As a result, his left-wing editorial colleagues did not speak to him for weeks.
The stupid machines today emotionalize every meaningless rubbish. Even a suspected cocaine dealer is widely reported and glorified as a victim of justice for having contributed to the overthrow of a “right-wing” government. In reality, the masterminds of the Ibiza action wanted to make money. The act, which is considered highly moral in left-wing circles today, was based from the beginning only on the intention of enrichment.
But the stupid machines remain silent about the worldwide misery of Christians and the grotesque staging of victims by Islam, which is truly not innocent of their misery. Probably for fear of becoming the target of hate attacks.
