On Sunday, March 20, 2022, Report 24 attended one of the traditional Sunday walks in the statutory city of Steyr. In the twelfth largest city in Austria, the resistance is not blinded by empty government promises. While the demonstrations in many places are shrinking after the alleged “relaxation”, we found around 1,000 people on the streets in Steyr.

The atmosphere in Steyr is good, there is a lot of solidarity, the people are friendly and welcoming to newcomers like us. This is how you can summarize our experiences from 6:00 p.m. While some participants expressed self-criticism about the number of participants: “Well, today we weren’t that many”, outsiders get a different picture. You don’t get around 1,000 people onto the streets in many cities, especially not now that the government is feigning “relaxation”. In fact, from Wednesday there will be tightening again in the open penal system in Austria. The inmates were probably not well-behaved – whereas the aloof ruling elites let themselves be celebrated at superspreader events in Vienna without any circus of measures.
All these messes drive people onto the streets in Steyr week after week. And here, too, is the picture that will ultimately allow the resistance to emerge victorious over a degenerate system: they are people from the middle of society, from all professions and income brackets. People who want to live free – not only free from masks, measures and syringes but also free from corruption. The “radicals” and “Nazis” that the system media alludes to everywhere are nowhere to be found, not even in Steyr. We’ve linked a video above of the entire parade last Sunday – see for yourself.
The parades in Steyr, which have already taken place more than sixty times, are accompanied by the resistant regional broadcaster RTV, which has generally made a name for itself through critical and comprehensive reporting in the corona pandemic. https://regionaltv.at/. Report 24 is honored to have been invited to two programs by this broadcaster, which has meanwhile received national attention:
FLORIAN MACHL IM RTV TALK – Report 24 journalist Florian Machl recently wrote an open letter to ORF entitled “One-sided reporting willfully endangers human lives!” Today’s RTV Talk Compact is about this letter and about public broadcasting in general.
PRESS FREEDOM AT RISK – Journalists provide information, they uncover grievances, they ask uncomfortable questions, they are critical of politics, business and society. In many western democracies, their work is protected by freedom of the press – also in Austria. At the same time, on March 9, the Constitutional Committee of Parliament decided to ban the state channel “Russia Today”. This raises the question: is freedom of the press and freedom of opinion in Austria in danger? We’re talking about this today in the RTV Talk Special with Florian Machl from Report24 and Michael Scharfmüller from Info-Direkt.
