Henrik Kristoffersen celebrates the small crystal ball for winning the slalom classification in the Alpine Ski World Cup for the third time. The Norwegian finished second behind his compatriot Atle Lie McGrath in the last slalom of this World Cup winter. Manuel Feller came in third. He saved the botched first round from the ÖSV point of view. The Tyrolean was still in tenth place after the first round. Marco Schwarz and Michael Matt were also able to make up places. Marco Schwarz finished the World Cup season in ninth place, while Michael Matt finished tenth.
Fabio Gstrein also scored points in 15th place. Johannes Strolz was eliminated in the first round. Lucas Braathen, still in the lead after the first run, had to settle for eleventh place. Bulgaria’s Albert Popov, who finished fourth, and Spaniard Joaquim Salarich, who finished fifth, caused a surprise.
After the interlude in the previous season, Austria took second place behind Switzerland in the Nations Cup, with all points from women and men being added together. In addition, the ÖSV women won their team ranking ahead of Switzerland and Italy.
Apart from that, like last time in 2019/20, there was no win for Austria’s Alpine, who will go into the coming season with two new racing directors: For the men, technical group boss Marko Pfeifer takes over for Andreas Puelacher, for the women Thomas Trinker replaces Christian Mitter away.
