New harrowing pictures: That’s what Putin’s war made of Kharkiv

It’s the 18th day of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine – two and a half weeks during which Putin’s troops have relentlessly pursued their president’s goal of taking control of the neighboring country with full firepower and Ukrainians have resisted unabated. But the price to be paid for this war is high: Thousands of human lives on the Russian and Ukrainian side, including soldiers as well as countless innocent civilians and children – and towns and villages that are completely leveled to the ground.
