Daniela Iraschko-Stolz celebrated victory in the World Cup seven years ago. Now Sara Marita Kramer has caught up on what is overdue. After bankruptcies, bad luck and breakdowns, everything went perfectly for the perfectionist over the course of a whole season – in her 17 individual competitions she was on the podium eleven times, seven of them on top. Last year’s third overall already has 15 World Cup victories to show for it. For comparison: Despite her young age, Kramer is only one success away from the Austrian record of 18 years older Iraschko pride.
She suffered a severe setback when she missed the Winter Olympics in Beijing due to the corona virus. The Dutch-Austrian dual citizen then fell into a lack of motivation. The ski jump skis stood in the corner for days. This success is therefore balm for a recently battered sportsman’s soul.
At the end of March, she missed overall victory in the World Cup by just eleven points. In a heart-stopping final, she was distanced by Nika Kriznar from Slovenia and Sara Takanashi from Japan. The decision in the three-way battle had been made around five weeks earlier at the World Cup in Rasnov, when Kramer was not allowed to compete after a suspected false positive corona test. At the following World Championships in Oberstdorf, a jury lapse from the normal hill ensured “Blech” and nerves from the large hill for another fourth place.
Daniela Iraschko-Stolz was also excited. She posted a video about it on Instagram.
The ÖSV young star is characterized by the fact that she is not always satisfied with herself, even with first places and, from the top step of the victory podium, criticizes what she believes to be the less than optimal quality of the jump. Kramer is characterized by this attitude, but it also makes the “defeats” through no fault of his own all the more painful.
“I hope that at some point I will be lucky. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case for the past few years,” Kramer recently announced in a media round. On Sunday she finally crossed the threshold of happiness.
