American system media are currently piqued: On Monday, the chief health spokesman for the state of Florida, Dr. Joseph Ladapo, announcedthat one will explicitly advise against Covid vaccinations in healthy children.
This is actually a novelty: Florida will be the first state to come up with such a clear position against the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will ask. The latter recommend that children from 5 to 17 years of age are vaccinated in order to have an even lower risk of severe Covid courses and to prevent the virus from being passed on – although this argument in particular is massively controversial (since it has been largely refuted).
According to Florida’s recommendations, however, healthy children and adolescents do not benefit from the Covid vaccination: the high prevalence of existing natural immunity and the low to non-existent probability of serious consequences from a Covid infection in this age group are pointed out. In addition, one warns of the risk of heart muscle inflammation through the vaccination, especially for male adolescents. Vaccination could only make sense in children with previous illnesses – the benefits and risks would have to be weighed up with the treating physicians.
American system media are outraged and accuse Ladapo, among other things, of ignoring “overwhelming evidence of the safety and effectiveness of the vaccinations”. This allegedly overwhelming body of evidence would certainly be of great interest to many citizens – not only in the USA. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis warned: „They have this lack of faith in the medical establishment and in the CDC and the politicization of those institutions, and that doesn’t bode well for us as a society going forward.” He added that he sees an “aversion to actual data when it conflicts with the narrative.” On top of that, he bemoaned “a failure to weigh the costs and benefits of whether it’s lockdowns, whether it’s school closures, or whether a healthy seven-year-old child should get the COVID vaccine.”
