For nearly eighty years, the preaching was “never again.” When a foreigner murdered a native, the “good guys” and “moral men” were always careful to point out that not everyone was like that. Those who nevertheless claimed that everyone was like that, whether by trend or because of culture, were convicted of hate crimes. Everything is different overnight. Because the Russian government has ordered a war, you have to hate 144 million people.

Are hatred and discrimination deeply rooted in the “German essence”? Is there a genetic predisposition for this behavior? That would probably be the only “excuse” that one could imagine for the behavior of the entire German but also Austrian public in the last few days. In fact, a large majority in the supposedly civilized West thought that discrimination and bullying were things from a dark past. There should be a broad societal consensus that this is undesirable behavior that you don’t want for yourself and therefore nobody else.
But from one day to the next, accompanied by the hate and malice orchestra of the public media authorities and the system media that were brought into line, a switch was flipped. Now it is opportune to hate, discriminate against, ostracize, “cancel”, fire, evict, damage their property or personally threaten every single Russian, because Russian President Putin is at war in Ukraine. This is racism in its purest form.
War is always wrong
This behavior is to be rejected, out of the question, wrong. As wrong as war is, leading to senseless bloodshed. War is almost always an event where corrupt old men gamble with the lives of others in a quest to increase their power and wealth. They don’t care how many people die. Those who order war rarely if ever face personal consequences, let alone physical ones.
Anyone who has their cups in the cupboard should have understood in recent years that when Angela Merkel ordered the breach of almost all fundamental rights and freedoms, she did not do so on behalf of all Germans. Otherwise it would be legitimate to discriminate, insult and marginalize all Germans for the actions of their leadership. The same applies to Austria. It doesn’t matter which Kasperl is allowed to play Chancellor for a few months – his orders have absolutely nothing to do with the aspirations of the average Austrian.
What can the little Russian do for the actions of the head of state?
Therefore, the Russian working in our countries cannot help it if his distant government is at war. Punishing him vicariously is primitive, stupid, unfair – wrong on every count. And the students of Russian origin who attend our educational institutions certainly cannot help it either. Just as little as Russian authors, composers, filmmakers and the like. You have to belong to a truly depraved class of people to justify what is currently being thrown at people of Russian descent.
Hatred and division arises against the “left” and “good”
It is frightening that again the “left”, oh so “good”, oh so “morally high quality” are at the forefront of discrimination and are demanding measures up to and including the annihilation of the “others”. It must be a lesson for us if we get through this terrible time unscathed that communism and socialism should never be expected of this world again. Just as fascism is rightly outlawed, humanity must finally develop self-cleansing powers against degenerate and mendacious ideologies that ultimately lead to impoverishment, misery and death. “Fend off the beginnings” was always the credo of these “leftists” – but in truth everyone else should have stopped these beginnings.
The total failure and mendacity of all members of these schools of thought is now evident in the Ukraine crisis. Where are the real calls for peace from the church and NGOs, the pacifism demos, the admonishing voices for cooperation? Nowhere. All these people continue to work seamlessly on the division that started with the Corona measures. It is up to each individual to resist saying “no” here. As with Corona, it will not be “the others” who will judge. And as with Corona, it will take maximum steadfastness to assert oneself against the unleashed masses, who are now allowed to make hate a program with impunity.
