From now on there will be no more Russian planes in American airspace, said Joe Biden (79) in his State of the Union address to Congress. The US would thus join its allies in “further isolating Russia”.
A task force will track down and freeze Russian assets. There are also plans to confiscate yachts and villas owned by Russian oligarchs.
Vladimir Putin would have “miscalculated”, said the US President in his speech: “The USA is on the side of Ukraine, every piece of NATO territory is defended.”
Putin’s war was “deliberate and unprovoked” and he opposed efforts at diplomacy. Biden: “Putin was wrong. We were prepared for that.”
Now Putin is more isolated than ever before, stressed the US President. “By the time the history of this era is written, Putin’s war with Ukraine will have left Russia weaker and the rest of the world stronger,” Biden told both chambers of the US Congress in the Capitol in Washington.
