According to media reports, Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen is about to extend his contract with Red Bull Racing. According to information from the daily newspaper De Telegraaf, the Dutchman has reached a “final agreement” with his racing team. Verstappen’s current contract expires at the end of 2023. The Dutchman should extend for four or five years.
There was initially no official confirmation. The contract extension is said to be announced later this week.
Verstappen has been driving in Formula 1 since 2015 and for Red Bull since 2016. Last year he became world champion for the first time. A new contract with the Austro-English racing team would not come as a surprise. “There is no reason to change anything. I want to stay with them for the rest of my life. I hope they let me,” Verstappen said about his future at Red Bull after the crazy World Cup final against Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton at the end of 2021.
