Not again: As early as November, the electric car manufacturer Tesla delivered vehicles without functions that German customers had paid for. Now Tesla owners are confronted with it again: Tesla has delivered thousands of cars in Germany despite the lack of control units. These are required for autonomous driving.
The reason for the missing components is the current lack of chips. This has not only Tesla, but the entire automotive industry in a stranglehold. Mercedes also had to do without certain equipment in its new cars. However, the German car manufacturer informed its customers about this and offered a discount or even cancellation of the vehicle.
It’s different with Tesla: Secret chat logs available to “Spiegel” are intended to prove that Elon Musk’s company has not informed its buyers about saving on equipment.
Between the end of December 2021 and mid-February 2022, Tesla is said to have produced 65,000 Model 3 and Model Y electric cars in Shanghai and brought them to Europe without the autonomous driving function. 13,500 of these vehicles were delivered to Germany.
