First runner Zdouc had survived the two stages without any mistakes, but then lost a good 45 seconds on the last lap and handed over to Hauser in 15th place. Austria’s figurehead Hauser had to reload once, but made up eight places and handed over to Juppe in seventh place.
Juppe temporarily ran in sixth place, fell back to 15th after two penalties in prone, but handed over to Innerhofer in 10th thanks to a clean second standing stage.
