1000 times “experts”: TikTok takes the government on the shovel

Austria is finding its sense of humor again – and that’s a good thing: a video is circulating on TikTok in which Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) and Minister of Health Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens) repeatedly quote “experts” on the corona measures. Only: Mückstein cannot give a name when a journalist asks him about it.

Everyone must have seen this approximately two-minute video: Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) and Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens) keep calling their press statements “experts” who allegedly help them with one or the other decision in their anti-corona -politics would have advised.

Unpleasant for Mückstein: The journalist Aurora Weiß suddenly asked him whether he could name these “experts” – and the Green Minister experienced a communicative Waterloo. He is silent for a few seconds, then several sentences follow with absolutely zero statements on the question just asked. This does not really increase the credibility of the decision-makers in the republic.

In need of explanation: Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens)

“Experts” for every politician

For weeks, many eXXpress readers have been wondering and also write this in their comments that the provincial governors and Vienna’s mayors always have their own “experts” who apparently suggest exactly the decision the politicians want. Is it all coincidence? At least Vienna’s Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) and Burgenland’s Governor Hans Peter Doskozil (SPÖ) have to get their advice from two different pools of “experts” – after all, there were and are numerous differences in the federal states just a few kilometers away.

So far, no “experts” have been able to explain to the eXXpress why the omicron virus or other coronavirus variants have always been more dangerous in Vienna than in Burgenland. . .

Always mentions “experts”: Karl Nehammer (ÖVP)

How seriously do you still take the Federal Government’s statements on Corona policy?
