vaccine fleet? (Yes) Not with the ORF! The eXXpress already knew a few days ago that there was anything but enthusiastic agreement on the Küniglberg about initially enthusiastically announced plans for a vaccination fleet carried out by the ORF on behalf of the government – and that they didn’t think much of Mückstein’s wishful thinking of doing it for him, that knows with Monday now also all of Austria. At the beginning of the week, the ORF editors’ council turned to the public with an official broadcast in which the journalists from Küniglberg not only scathingly criticized the side letter affair and the open secret of the government’s “job haggling” but also the vaccination fleet a clear rejection once and for all.
ORF anchor Martin Thür shared the broadcast on Twitter and also shared the paragraph on the vaccination fleet separately – to “make sure that this is not overlooked”. One notices that the journalists on the Küniglberg have had enough:
The paragraph on vaccination fleet reads as follows:
The extent to which the current government apparently has the impression that the ORF is an “auxiliary organ of the government” (broadcast lawyer Hans Peter Lehofer in “Standard”) is not only evident in its “side letter” (which stipulates “cooperation in the foundation board”. and the nomination of the next chairman by the Greens), but also on the planned order that the ORF would have to handle the vaccination fleet for the government.
This creates the impression of a state radio that has to process orders from the government. This jeopardizes the reputation and independence of reporting. A central task of the ORF is the journalistic control function of politics and not the handling of state initiatives.
The ORF is neither an “auxiliary organ of the government” nor a political front organization in which parties or the government are entitled to make personnel decisions. The ORF belongs to the Austrians and not to the parties!
