A positive corona test by World Cup leader Marita Kramer a few days before the start of the Olympic Games in Beijing hit Austria’s ski jumpers hard on Sunday. Kramer, who won the first competition in Willingen on Saturday, tested positive on the same day, and the ÖSV team then went home together on Sunday. Kramer is well and without symptoms, the goal is to compete in the Olympics, the ÖSV said in a broadcast.
Kramer started the journey home isolated from her teammates, all of whom tested negative. “Due to the high Ct value, competing in the Olympic Games remains the goal,” said the ÖSV. “Currently, those responsible for the ÖOC and the ÖSV are working on a schedule to enable the World Cup leaders to start at the Olympic Games in Beijing.”
The departure of the jumpers to Beijing planned for Monday will therefore be postponed by at least one day. The entry regulations for the Olympic Games currently require four consecutive negative PCR test results at a time interval of at least 24 hours as a result of a positive test result.
