The wild ride started for eight-time world champion Márquez just above the notorious “Mausefalle” – on the Ehrenbachhöhe. This made the multiple MotoGP World Champion the first athlete to conquer the most difficult descent in the Alpine Ski World Cup on a motorcycle. The reigning Formula 1 World Champion Marc Verstappen and the successful DTM and rally driver Mattias Ekström had already demonstrated their skills on the Streif.
For the spectacular ride on snow, the then 23-year-old superstar had two professionals at his side. Ski expert Armin Assinger and ice speedway legend Franky Zorn from Saalfelden, who fitted the racing bike with the right spikes.
Even if the spectacular action was some time ago, Red Bull drew attention to it again with an Instagram video – rightly so!
“The Hahnenkamm has already seen many world-class racers, but nothing comparable to Marc Márquez, Max Verstappen and Mattias Ekstrom,” says the energy drink manufacturer.
