You might catch mice with bacon, but you save dogs with sausage! At least that’s true of the Jack-Russel-Whippet-mix “Millie”, who rescued her taste for sausages from a predicament – oh yes, and a drone was also involved in a prominent role: Like “BBC” and “The Guardian” report, the three-year-old dog got lost in the mudflats off the coast of Hampshire in Great Britain, where she was at risk of becoming a victim of the tides: Some of the higher tidal waves could have easily carried the little furry friend away.
A rescue team immediately tried to reach Millie via kayak to lure her to higher ground – but to no avail! Then someone from the rescue team of the “Denmead Drone Search & Rescue” team had the brilliant idea: they had already helped to track down the little dog with their flying drones and suggested simply attaching a sausage with a string to one of the drones and lure Millie to safety with the enticing smell of sausages.
This idea finally led to complete success: Millie happily padded after the flying sausage, which led her to higher ground and thus to safety. In the meantime, her owner was able to hug the little runaway again, healthy and sound – and the flight drones recorded the rescue operation for eternity:
