Actually, on Thursday afternoon, Vienna was already fully occupied with the heated debate about introducing compulsory vaccinations in Parliament and the counter-demonstrations in and around the city center when winter suddenly got involved: from one moment to the next, the still sunny one struck Weather changed to gray skies and snowstorms – including sleet! Within seconds, the federal capital was white – and meteorologists are already warning: That was just the beginning!
Because winter has come to stay for a while: A cold front brings snow, storms and even thunderstorms to Austria. In the west of the country in particular, large amounts of fresh snow are accumulating – by the weekend there can even be two meters of snow in some parts of Austria.
