The vaccination issue is currently dividing not only the Greens but also the NEOS: As the eXXpress has already reported, there is a circle of officials in the party around the deputy club boss Gerald Loacker who is firmly opposed to the planned law. At a special session on Sunday, the NEOS decided that each of the 15 MPs can and should decide for themselves whether they want to support the law in the National Council. In addition to the Tyrolean Johannes Margreiter, the health spokeswoman Fiona Fiedler also opposes it.
There is also resistance in the countries. There, for example, the NEOS club boss in the Styrian state parliament, Niko Swatek, is mentioned. He wants to explain his reasons at a debate in the state parliament on Tuesday. While he is not fundamentally opposed to vaccination, he is skeptical about the illiberal idea of a duty: “I think that coercion always causes a backlash.”
