The eXXpress already published the list of Corona grant recipients in May 2021. Former SPÖ Chancellor Christian Kern received a guarantee of €320,000 for his “Blue Minds Solution GmbH”. The sometimes quite cheerful Viennese actor Michael Niarvarani was also able to keep his cabaret “Simplicissimus” afloat with an aid of €465,286.
As can be seen from this so-called transparency database, Chorherr’s bakery Gragger & Chorherr received 300,000 euros in corona aid last year due to a “significant operational disruption”. And this despite the fact that bakeries are considered systemically important and have never had to close. This year, too, the company of the Green politician, against whom charges were brought in November on suspicion of corruption, can look forward to 115,381.32 euros (50,000 euros of which are guarantees).
The online presence of the bakery is also interesting. The word “good” dominates the entire website. There is talk of “good bread, good location, good opportunities” – but the prices of the noble bakery have also washed up well and are not quite as down-to-earth as the online presence would like to convey. You pay 1.70 euros for a pretzel stick and 4.90 euros for a loaf of white bread.
Simple student jobs such as delivering and mobile sales of goods are sold as “innovative bread wheels”. The idea of founding the bakery came to Chorherr and his business partner in the course of the wave of refugees in 2015. They wanted to enable “people with refugee experience” to get an education, the connecting element of all cultures is bread.
In addition to Chorherrs Brot-Juwelier, the municipality of Vienna is also on the subsidy list. The city will receive 4.2 million euros in Corona aid, of which 800,000 euros will go to the Wiener Stadthalle alone.
800,000 euros will also go to Vereinigte Bühnen GmbH, and Wiener Sportstätten Betriebs-GmbH will receive 516,309.54 euros.
By the way: Niko Pelinka, the Soko-Ibiza witness close to the SPÖ and former contact of Ibiza video lawyer Ramin Mirfakhrai, receives 281,872.71 euros for various media companies and holdings of Media-Beratungs GmbH, where he is managing director. 110,000 euros of this are guarantees.
