This attempt to free the “hero” of the left Viennese activist scene and some left-leaning journalists has also failed: The Vienna Higher Regional Court has “not followed” a complaint by the so-called security expert Julian Hessenthaler alias Julian Thaler alias Alexander Surkov – the main suspect of the Ibiza video crime thriller remains in custody, as eu-infothek.com and eXXpress learned at the weekend.
Hessenthaler has had to answer for months before the St. Pölten Regional Court as a defendant in a large drug trial: One witness also spoke of massive threats and attempts at intimidation, it involves more than a kilo of cocaine – and Hessenthaler faces more than ten years’ imprisonment.
With this decision of the Higher Regional Court and this defeat of Hessenthaler’s lawyer Oliver Scherbaum, the nervousness of the clique of supporters of the Ibiza video perpetrator does not diminish: After all, this group has to fear that the long-time assistant and informant for various groups in the executive branch will make a life confession if he has nothing more to lose anyway because he has to go to jail for years.
The agitation of the alleged criminal’s supporters even went so far that posters with his portrait were stuck on in Vienna. This fan cult for a suspected criminal is reminiscent of the long-time embarrassingly deluded helper of Jack Unterweger, who was celebrated as a hero and cultural worker by a Viennese clique in the early 1990s, but was then convicted of multiple female murders.
Hessenthaler will now have to wait in a prison cell for the next few days of trial at the St. Pölten Regional Court, while his acquaintance and alleged accomplice in the video shoot, the Ibiza lawyer, can roll through downtown Vienna in his Porsche Carrera.
The fact that the investigators at the Federal Criminal Police Office apparently have little interest in researching the fate of the fake oligarch “Alyona Makarov” also helps the Viennese Ibiza clique: This possible witness has disappeared, as a confidante, she can no longer act against the main perpetrators of Ibiza or theirs female helpers and also not testify about possible backers. Intelligence experts believe that the suspicion that this young woman may not have been alive for months is not unfounded.
