U20 ice hockey team boss Pewal: “The situation in the hotel was not ideal”
After two games, the World Cup in Canada for the U20 national ice hockey team was over again. The tournament had to be stopped early due to corona cases. In an interview with eXXpressTV, U20 ice hockey team boss Marco Pewal speaks for the first time about the World Cup, the Corona situation and the Austrian offspring.
A 1: 7 against Finland, a 2:11 against Canada. Then the world championship was over again after two games for the U20 national ice hockey team. The corona virus once again proved to be a spoilsport. On the day after the 2:11 loss to fellow favorites Canada, the international federation (IIHF) decided to end the tournament prematurely. In addition to defending champions USA, the Czech Republic and Russia also had to go into quarantine. The association then pulled the rip cord and stopped the tournament prematurely.
This news was particularly bitter for Marco Pewal. The team manager of the Austrian U20 national ice hockey team did not receive any approval from his club, the Villacher Sportverein (VSV), last year. That year Pewal stood behind the gang. The anticipation was great – so was the disappointment about the early termination. In an interview with Dominik Hana, Marco Pewal spoke about the impressions in Canada, the performances against Finland and Canada as well as the situation in Austria’s youngsters.
