In Vienna, escalators are commonplace at every underground station, train station or shopping center. A video from the USA shows that nasty surprises can follow with the actually comfortable method of transportation. Due to a technical error, an escalator at the Back Bay subway station in Boston suddenly changed direction. The recordings from the surveillance camera show a number of people falling on top of each other like dominoes.
The incident took place last September, but it was only recently made public. The reason: Numerous people were injured in the accident. Nine people even had to be treated in the hospital. They have now initiated legal action.
