Everything has to go perfectly – at least when it comes to China. At the Winter Olympics in Beijing from February 4th to 20th, China wants to demonstrate its power to the world. The medals and mascots also play an important role. The medal is always a symbol of success and the hard work that has gone into it. The medals also have an important meaning at the Winter Games in Beijing.
On the front you can see the five Olympic rings embossed in the middle as well as the words “XXIV Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 ″. On the back is the Beijing Games emblem.
A panda named “Big Dwen Dwen” was chosen as the mascot for the Winter Games. It looks like it’s stuck in a see-through spacesuit including a full face helmet. On the head there is a kind of halo in bright colors, which is supposed to symbolize the modern technologies of the sports facilities. The Mandarin word “Bing” means ice, but it also means purity and strength.
“Dwen Dwen” stands for children on the one hand, but can also be translated as robust and lively. Accordingly, the mascot embodies the strength and willpower of the athletes. On the palm of the hand, “Bing Dwen Dwen” has a heart on the left palm. This is supposed to symbolize the hospitality of China. A total of 5,800 proposals from China and 35 countries were submitted. The panda is the country’s national animal.
