According to a digital simulation, the car can cover more than 1,000 kilometers with one battery charge – and with a battery that fits into a small car. The goal is to build the most efficient electric car in the world. However, the carmaker has not yet announced when series models of the Mecedes electric brand EQ will follow. According to the head of research, Markus Schäfer, it depends on the combination of range and low energy consumption: “We will be the first to show that.”
The Chinese competitor Nio is also aiming for such a range for its ET7. Only last year Tesla buried the long-distance plan for the Model S Plaid. At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that began on Wednesday, Daimler wanted to put the streamlined limousine on stage in Las Vegas. But like other large exhibitors, the Stuttgart-based company canceled participation in the trade fair at short notice due to the aggravated situation in the corona pandemic. In a few months, the range will be tested in real life on the road, said Schäfer.
