The corresponding new regulation will come into force in March. Environmental groups have been campaigning for such a regulation for years – but what they would like best is a complete ban on car advertising. According to the new regulation, the advertisers are obliged to distribute the more environmentally friendly alternative in advertising in all media. The hashtag “#SeDeplacerMoinsPolluer” (move and pollute less) is always mandatory.
In addition, there must be one of three standardized messages. These are “Think about car sharing”, “Use public transport for everyday use” and “If the distances are short, walk or cycle”. According to French law, advertising for the most polluting cars, including many SUVs, will be banned altogether from 2028.
