Vaccination certificates for a one-time Janssen vaccination (Johnson & Johnson) lose their validity in the Green Passport on January 3rd, as the Ministry of Health recalled on Wednesday. In order for affected persons to receive a valid vaccination certificate, a further vaccination is required no earlier than 28 days after the first vaccination with Biontech or Moderna. “The requirement for a second vaccination at Janssen for a valid vaccination certificate is based on the latest scientific data that are available to us in Austria. In the case of a Janssen vaccination, a refreshment of the vaccination protection seems to be necessary for the coming challenges – especially in view of the Omikron variant. Therefore, I call on all people who have been vaccinated once with Janssen to be vaccinated again for their own protection, ”says the Ministry of Health.
People affected by this were informed about this procedure in November with a personally addressed reminder. A total of 260,000 people received this personal letter. As of today, around 75,000 of these people have not yet had any further vaccinations. It is recommended that these people have another vaccination as soon as possible, but no later than January 3, 2022. Otherwise your vaccination certificate will lose its validity in the Green Passport.
