Dominic Thiem will not take part in the Australian Open. The native of Lichtenwörther announced this on social media. Most recently, Thiem adapted his tournament schedule. “I feel good again, my wrist is in optimal condition and I train normally with a very good intensity,” wrote Thiem. “I will start my season in South America at the Cordoba Open in Argentina at the end of January and will therefore not play at the Australian Open. Melbourne is a city that I love and where I have great memories and played unforgettable matches. I’ll miss the Australian fans, but I’ll be back in 2023, ”Thiem said on Twitter.
Together with his team, he is convinced that this is the right decision. This should ensure a good return to the tennis tournament. “I will stay in Austria for a few more days and then train outdoors and prepare for my first tournament of the season.” However, it is currently not known where Thiem will prepare.
