The police are registering more and more vaccination fraudsters across the Bavarian border. According to the officials, tourists are trying to get digital certificates in Bavaria with a fake vaccination certificate. According to the Swabian South / West Police Headquarters in Kempten, most attempts at fraud come from people who are resident in Austria and Switzerland.
In most cases, alleged evidence from German pharmacies or vaccination centers is presented, according to the Munich State Criminal Police Office. “Therefore, the procedure appears to be explainable that border-near German pharmacies are visited,” said an LKA spokesman.
The reasons why the vaccination fraudsters choose German pharmacies as their target could not be answered by either the LKA spokesman or the police. However, there are indications of a black market trade in vaccination passports from Germany to neighboring countries. In the case of mail, there have already been “extensive seizures of falsified vaccination certificates with entries from German vaccination centers or medical practices,” according to the LKA.
Last week, two women residing in Austria were caught fraudulent in a vaccination card in a pharmacy in Lindau. According to the police, they had to pay a fine “in the four-digit range” before they were allowed to leave for Austria. The two women are now being investigated for forgery of documents.
