The Swiss Federal Statistical Office came to the conclusion in its latest publication: In 90 percent of the official corona deaths who died in March 2020, the virus was the main cause of death. This means that without Covid they would not have died according to the doctors’ assessments. For the remaining ten percent, Covid-19 was only a side effect and not decisive for their death.
Of the 90 percent of those who just died from the AM virus, 91 percent suffered from at least one comorbid condition. The most common here was cardiovascular disease. 14 percent had diabetes, 76 percent of those who died from corona had previously infected lungs.
The latest figures confirm that Corona can be particularly dangerous for older people. In March 2020, 95 percent of those who died were older than 65 years. How the numbers have behaved since March 2020 and whether anything has changed in the statistics due to the mutations that have been circulating since then has not yet been fully recorded.
In Austria one looks in vain for such statistical surveys. Numbers about the exact cause of death of the official Covid deaths and records of what percentage of the deceased suffered from previous illnesses have not yet been published. Scientists, publicists and doctors have criticized this information gap in the past. Just a few weeks ago, a former university professor and forensic doctor complained that most of the Covid deaths would not be autopsied. This would deprive science of the opportunity to learn more about the virus and gather information that could be helpful in combating it in the future.
