A large demonstration has been registered for the afternoon in Upper Austria’s capital Linz – and actions are also planned in other cities. The biggest one should be in Linz. According to the homepage of the FPÖ, the sea of lights should be a “memory of all victims of the crisis”. According to the comments on the messenger service Telegram, this primarily means Covid victims in the sense of “Victims of the COVID measures, vaccination deaths and those who died suddenly and unexpectedly” “. In addition, it is also about preventing compulsory vaccination.
The meeting point is 3.30 p.m. at the Burgring, from 4.30 p.m. a procession of lights is to take place around the Ringstrasse, before a final sea of lights is planned at Heldenplatz at 7 p.m.
The ÖAMTC warns on its website that from 4.15 p.m. there will be partial closures on Franz-Josefs-Kai and the Ring. This will likely also affect tram traffic. Around 8,000 participants are expected, and traffic should run smoothly again from 7 p.m.
There may be delays in the preceding hours in the area of Roßauer Lände, Praterstraße, Untere Donaustraße, Zweierlinie in the entire course towards the Votivkirche as well as on the access roads to the Ring (e.g. Rennweg, Wiedner Hauptstraße, Rechts Wienzeile).
