No less than eleven Greens, most of them well known within the party and legitimized by voters with high functions such as city council, municipal council, district council, vice mayor, etc., wrote an open letter to the party leadership. In it, they demand, among other things, “normality for children and adolescents” and “individual risk assessment instead of mandatory vaccination”. It will be interesting to see whether there will be party exclusions or whether the top of the Greens will remember their old core values.
The supporting functionaries are based in different federal states. Your open letter gives hope that the Greens are perhaps not a homogeneous totalitarian sect after all. Countless Austrians have shown themselves alienated in recent years how far the Greens have strayed from their previous basic principles – and above all, how little the party has to do with environmental protection. Rather, the top functionaries in Vienna show an uninhibited will to use the tax money from the well-filled troughs, no matter how much you have to bend over. These officials now received mail.
Open letter – To the Green Party leadership
We demand immediate measures for de-escalation and sustainable investments in this
Health system
As green members, sympathizersinside and functionaryInside we observe with great concern an increasing social division since the government differentiated between vaccinated and unvaccinated people in the measures and subsequently announced the compulsory vaccination. We consider it wrong to turn people into a physical one through measures that endanger their existence (e.g. job loss, exclusion from social life)
To force intervention the effectiveness of which as a measure to combat pandemics has only been scientifically proven to a limited extent. We consider the government’s approach to be untenable in terms of democracy and constitutional law. It contradicts our basic green values. We are confronted every day with the desperation of people who have lost their jobs, been excluded from social life and high fines
are at risk. We cannot agree with our conscience to be silent about it.
We are concerned that critical voices about the current measures are very limited in the media. All the more we place our hope in a good culture of discussion within the green movement and demand an internal, open-ended and serious discussion of this complex topic. We at the grassroots are seeing how many voters are currently turning away from the Greens in disappointment. We would like to make a constructive contribution to improving the difficult social and health situation and
therefore require the following immediate measures:
1. Individual risk assessment instead of mandatory vaccination
According to current data, the introduction of mandatory vaccination is disproportionate and violates Article 3 (2) of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights. There is no scientific evidence that the targeted increase in the vaccination rate can be achieved by compulsory vaccination or that the pandemic can be ended. Instead, we suggest inviting the known risk groups to appointments with doctors they trust in order to carry out an individual risk-benefit assessment and derive the best possible recommendations for preventing the progression of the disease.
2. 3G instead of 2G
It is scientifically incomprehensible that those who have not been vaccinated pose a greater risk to their fellow human beings than those who have recovered and who have been vaccinated. The 2G rule results in clusters being recognized much later. At the same time, the distinction between vaccinated and unvaccinated people creates a division in society that endangers social peace in the long term. We therefore propose to initially replace the 2G rule with the 3G rule (nationwide uniform for people aged 12 and over) with immediate effect and to supplement this with mandatory testing in risk settings (hospitals, old people’s homes, night-time catering). It should be taken into account that those who have recovered have been shown to have more extensive and longer-lasting immunity than those who have been vaccinated. There is no evidence that the certificate of recovery is valid for less than the certificate of vaccination.
3. Normality for children and adolescents
In the case of young people, the psychological and physical damage caused by Corona measures now exceeds the dangers of Covid disease. We therefore suggest ending all measures and vaccination campaigns in kindergartens, schools and youth centers. We strictly reject compulsory vaccination for children and adolescents. The EMA recommends vaccinating primarily those at higher risk in this group.
4. No restrictions in the open air
Infections outdoors do not play a relevant role in the infection process. Therefore, we propose to lift all restrictions in the open air.
5. At home treatment as soon as possible
We propose to take measures to ensure the fastest possible treatment of those who have tested positive and who have symptoms of Covid disease across the board by medical examiners. A variety of medical methods should be used. This leads to a significant reduction in the risk of hospitalization.
6. Communication at eye level
We propose to restore trust in politics and science through a prejudice-free handling of scientific findings, comprehensive transparency and communication on an equal footing. All measures should be communicated in a manner appropriate to risk groups. Conflicts of interest with consulted experts are to be avoided.
7. Aligning policies to promote health
We propose that all health policy be geared towards promoting a sustainable, healthy lifestyle and individual health. In this context, research and teaching in the field of health education should be promoted. In order to avoid overloading the intensive care units, we also propose to strengthen the health system in the hospital and care sector by massively improving the working conditions and the pay of the people who work there.
