During a patrol at the Christkindl market, police officers from the Meidling police station became aware of a heavily drunk Australian (41). The man harassed other visitors and cursed wildly in English. The man was expelled from the Advent market by the officials.
After a short time, the drunk Australian came back one more time and disrupted the admission controls. The police expelled the man a second time from the premises. The heavily drunk man came back a third time and was seen harassing market visitors again. When a police officer stopped the man, the Australian attacked the officer and brutally knocked him down.
The suspect tried to escape on foot, but was stopped and overwhelmed with the help of a security company employee. The man was arrested. The police officer was slightly injured in the attack.
