The snow is gone, now the wind is coming: Today, Friday, strong gusts of wind are blowing through all of Austria, and the severe weather center has even issued a storm warning for parts of the country.
The wind blows most leisurely in the east: in Vienna as well as in Lower Austria and Burgenland, here the “heavenly child” blows moderately to lively from the northwest. In Upper Austria there is a brisk westerly wind, in the Styrian lowlands it usually blows weakly or moderately from directions around the north. In Salzburg, the high fog dominates in the first half of the day before a partly stormy north wind comes up in the Lungau in the afternoon, which will reach peaks of around 60 km / h. In Carinthia, too, the fog is dissipating and a strong wind is particularly noticeable in the valleys in the north. In Tyrol, with a cold easterly wind, stubborn high fog is likely in the lowlands and the Inn Valley. In East Tyrol’s valleys it remains mild with tauern winds, while in Vorarlberg a cold north wind is sometimes noticeable.
