The pharmaceutical giants behind the Covid vaccines most frequently used in Western countries keep themselves harmless by shifting any liability for damage to health caused by their products to the respective state. Vaccination fanatics are of the opinion that this is completely “normal” – among critical people, on the other hand, it rightly creates great distrust of vaccines. Documents of the Gavi vaccine alliance now make it clear that the fear of expensive liability cases due to vaccination damage is so great among manufacturers that one would rather not vaccinate 167 million people than finally take responsibility for one’s own products.

The aim of the “Gavi” foundation, founded at the World Economic Forum in 2000 and financed by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, among others, is the worldwide distribution of vaccines – also and especially to poor countries as well as stateless people and refugees. The vaccination of the latter is made much more difficult by the behavior of the pharmaceutical giants Pfizer and BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca: With their vaccines, these three manufacturers make the largest contribution to the COVAX initiative – at the same time do not want to accept liability for any damage caused by their products.
In the case of stateless persons and refugees, where no government takes responsibility, vaccination with these vaccines is simply not possible. A spokesman for Gavi complained to Reuters that that the reluctance of pharmaceutical companies to take legal risks represents a major hurdle for the vaccination of refugees.
Interestingly, not all vaccine manufacturers are afraid of being showered with liability cases for vaccine damage. The Chinese manufacturers SinoVac, Sinopharm and Clover Pharmaceuticals, for example, are willing, according to Gavi documents, to take the risks and assume liability. Johnson and Johnson also indicated their willingness to waive indemnification at least in the case of deliveries for humanitarian purposes.
“Safety of the vaccine would be questioned”
The European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) apologized to Reuters for the attitude of the other manufacturers, saying that it was difficult to monitor vaccine safety in refugee camps. It is feared that the refugees blame vaccines for post-vaccination health problems – even if unrelated to vaccination. (The pharmaceutical industry and its lobbyists claim that there is no connection to vaccination with impressive consistency, even with known vaccine side effects.) “This could then lead to an increased number of legal disputes … in which the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine would be publicly questioned ”one showed concern.
It has long been proven that the safety and effectiveness of the Covid vaccine are publicly questioned for very good reason. The “effect” is not only questionable, but also disappears after only a few weeks to months. On the other hand, the mRNA vaccines already show a side effect profile that is completely disproportionate to the benefit – and late effects are currently not even foreseeable. For refugees without safe access to medical care in particular, not using these vaccines is likely to save lives in many cases. However, the fact that Pfizer and Co. firmly assume that they will be showered with corresponding lawsuits when assuming liability should also finally draw the attention of the citizens of this country.
