The ORF presenter Reinhard Jesionek (57), who is very well known in Austria, criticized his “former colleague” on Facebook. The reason was the incomplete and distorting reporting on the demonstration by nursing staff in front of the Vienna Medical Association. He is ashamed of 37 years of membership in the ORF. Ash wird on the ORF website still run as a star.
On December 15, Jesionek stated on Facebook:
I’m sad, amazed + now I’m embarrassed for my former professional home, the ORF … Today on December 15th. demonstrated 650 doctors + nurses in front of the medical association in Vienna … and THAT is the reporting about it ->
“Hundreds at illegal demonstration in Vienna In the inner city of Vienna this morning, hundreds of people gathered for an unregistered demonstration. Apparently they were CoV deniers and opponents of measures. “
NO word that they were exclusively doctors + nurses! … that would represent the story differently. WAS NO ONE from ORF there? …. or does THAT have other reasons? I AM GENUINE FOR 37 years of being part of the ORF!
His formulations in the past tense suggest that there has now been a final break with the station. It is also possible that Jesionek was one of the “victims” of the green security officer Pius Strobl, who ordered the expulsion of all those who had not been vaccinated at the end of the year.
Numerous Facebook users agree
The post went viral on multiple social networks, to date it has been “liked” 1,582 times and shared 2,829 times. That’s a lot for censorship-mad Facebook in 2021. The comments and conversations below are also exciting and informative.
Monika W. writes: I agree with that, was only in a middle position and proud of my job, but now I’m also embarrassed about what has become of ORF.
Emmerich S. explains: If only doctors actually took part, it would be really good if the ORF reported on it, with interviews and statements from some participants. What I miss in all public media is a scientific, serious dialogue between the so-called “anti-vaccination opponents” (vaccination critics) and those who support vaccination (or those who see vaccination as the panacea for the pandemic).
Brigitte H. explains: Message Control … could someone think about why THIS professional group is demonstrating … and about illegal … they should read the Austrian law
Numerous other commentators thank you for the statement or complain about the tendentious reporting of the station. Many also ask whether it is certain that it was mainly nurses and doctors – a legitimate question which a serious news broadcaster should actually clarify. However, the ORF is not interested in this – they obviously want to avoid people thinking about why specialists in particular refuse vaccinations.
The Viennese has been moderating various radio and TV formats on the public ORF since 1984. Already in 2012 there was a crisis, in the standard it was read that the presenter was disappointed with the broadcaster, which he said at the time no place in the evening program had conceded more. It is unclear whether and how much Jesionek was last active for ORF. In May the station was still bragging with a famous interviewthat he had led with Falco in 1993. In the end he was probably in “Digital Austria” active. In the current program you can only find it in historical programs.
