As part of today’s debate on the referendum “For freedom from vaccinations” in the National Council, Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein took stock of the progress of booster vaccinations in Austria so far. As reported, the demand in this country is comparatively high, but so far too few older people have taken the third trick.
So far, a third of the population has already received the booster, according to Mückstein it is currently 66 percent of those over 65. However, this value is not yet high enough to protect the community from the pandemic. “We need general compulsory vaccinations in Austria as a way out of the pandemic,” he therefore emphasized on Wednesday in the National Council. Unlike in Germany, however, there does not seem to be any problems with an impending vaccine shortage in this country. In general, there is enough vaccine available in Austria, assured the Minister of Health.
