In an Israeli cabinet meeting on Sunday, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett falsely claimed that two children in Great Britain had so far died of the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV2. One of them was not vaccinated, the other was only vaccinated once. In Israel, too, one can therefore see that the Omicron variant affects children.
None of this is true. the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed last week that there is not a single death worldwide due to the Omicron variant. Also the chief medical advisor of the UK Health Security Agency said on Sunday that the UK has not recorded any deaths related to the Omicron variant. Boris Johnson only announced on Mondaythat “at least” one patient “with (!) the Omicron variant” died. Interestingly enough, he was unable to provide any further information; at least there was no talk of children.
In fact, previous evaluations show that the course of the disease in Omicron infected people is extremely mild. Not for nothing did Dr. Angelique Coetzee, the chairwoman of the South African Medical Association, considered the panic to be completely unnecessary. First experts are even optimistic that Omicron could displace the more aggressive Delta variant and thus usher in the end of Covid-19:
So I actually think there is a silver lining here and this could signal the end of Covid-19 as it is weakening enough to be highly contagious but not cause serious illness. The same thing happened with the Spanish flu.

Bennett’s false claims are likely to be related to the Israeli government’s current vaccination campaign aimed at To force fourth vaccinations. As in Germany and Austria, children are being vaccinated to an ever more shameless extent be pushed.
As is well known, Israel is a dubious role model for the vaccination campaign, as it impressively shows that, despite the high vaccination rate and the early start of the “booster” agenda, the citizens have no prospect of a return to the old normal. Currently, the country is testing the Covid numbers through testing obligations for Preschool and elementary school students high – obviously to boost vaccinations in this age group. Israeli citizens under 55 are still rather skeptical about child vaccinations against Covid.
