The Austrian tennis fans still have to be patient. Dominic Thiem should have made his comeback at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi (December 16-18). But it will take longer before Dominic Thiem can return to the tennis court. As he announced on Twitter, he doesn’t feel ready yet.
“I was really looking forward to making my comeback in Abu Dhabi. But I don’t feel ready to play at the highest level just yet. It is disappointing not to be able to participate this year. But I have to keep preparing for the coming season. I hope I can take part in the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in the future, ”Thiem said on Twitter.
Above all, the upcoming Australian Open in January is targeted. Thiem could celebrate his comeback there. Austria’s tennis ace tore a tendon sheath and the associated joint capsule at a Wimbledon preparatory tournament in Mallorca at the end of June. Thiem tried to get back into training. But then he officially declared the season over. He later stated that he wanted to make his comeback in Abu Dhabi. Now there will (hopefully) be a return at the Australian Open.
