Manuel Feller achieved a surprising third place in the overwhelming victory of the Swiss Marco Odermatt. The Tyrolean catapulted himself from eighth place to the podium in the giant slalom of Val d’Isere on Saturday and celebrated his second podium in this discipline on the selective Face de Bellevarde. Odermatt won like in Sölden and distanced Alexis Pinturault by 0.59 seconds, Feller was already 1.24 off.
Adrian Pertl is threatened with the premature end of the season. The slalom vice world champion got stuck with his skis on a gate pole in the first run in the lower section of the track and fell a few gates later. A serious knee injury in the 25-year-old was feared, an MRI examination in Innsbruck should provide information about this. Joshua Sturm was nominated for the slalom on Sunday (9:30 a.m. / 1:00 p.m.).
Only four Austrians were in the decision. Behind Stefan Brennsteiner (15th), Vorarlberg’s Patrick Feurstein (25) took RTL points for the first time with “two solid runs” in 18th place, ahead of Raphael Haaser (20th).
