It is not the first time that Vienna has taken a separate path in fighting pandemics – but the population in Gernzen is now understanding – to put it mildly. Because Vienna has relatively low incidences and the hospitals are not yet at their limit, but Mayor Michael Ludwig is on the brakes again. The reason: his crisis team advised him to do so. But: It is mainly filled with people who have already been noticed as lockdown hardliners.

Further members are Dr. Michael Binder, medical director of the Vienna Health Association. He said only yesterday: “Vienna currently has the lowest incidence of all federal states – but that is no reason for opening it too quickly.” aside from that Walter Hillerer, Head of the Emergency Action Group. He’s also the city’s top contact tracer.
The medical doctor Doz. Christoph Wenisch on board, head of the infection department at Klinik Favoriten. This is the man who became known with a photo that shows him when he raised his fist in front of the camera during the corona vaccination as a sign of triumph.
Further members are also intensive care physician Prim. Sabine Schmaldienst from the first medical department in the Favoriten Clinic, the hospital where most corona patients have been cared for since the start of the pandemic, as well as the pulmonologist Prim. Assang Valipour from the Döbling private clinic.
In addition, Prim. Christian Sebesta (Donauspital), the pediatrician Prim. Herbert Kurz, Prof. Dr. Thomas Staudinger, Head of an intensive care unit at the Vienna General Hospital, who classifies countries with a high vaccination rate as exemplary and, in a ZiB interview, linked the increasing number of infections with the low vaccination rate in this country. Oswald Wagner, Vice Rector for Clinical Affairs at MedUni Vienna, he also advises Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer.
Another member is complexity researcher Prof. Priv.-Doz. Mag. Dr. Peter Klimekwho recently massively attacked Salzburg’s district court Wilfried Haslauer and is considered a lockdown hardliner. He is also supported by the red hospital manager Dr. Florentin Glötzl advised as well as by Primaria Dr. Sylvia Hartl, Specialist in Pulmonology, the Primarius Dr. Peter Bernecker, Specialist in internal medicine, Prof. Erich Neuwirth, who was most recently known because he regularly evaluates the latest Corona numbers on Twitter and Prim. Prof. DDr. Barbara Maier, Head of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Ottakring Clinic and President of the Austrian Society for Psychosomatics in Gynecology and Obstetrics.
